Offski!

lee, lori, emma

I’m off travelling again! Heading to Paris early (VERY early… 6.30am flight!) tomorrow morning for four days. Lee (far left in the picture) is studying at university in Paris, so I’m going to spend some time with him, and also just enjoy being in a new city!

Taking a few books to read, my camera to take pictures, and very little money… the plan is to read, photograph, walk, and talk! I’m excited about catching up with Lee, and looking forward to having a rest too.

I’m not taking my laptop, so I probably wont blog while I’m away. I may check emails a few times, but I’m thinking about having as much of an internet-free four days as I can! So, if you don’t hear from me, don’t complain too loudly!

Reminders

Today I was reminded of something. I was at our Exodus team meeting (I’m co-leading a team to Latvia this summer, based in Glasgow), we were in the midst of some prayer time, and a song came on playing… One Way.

It’s almost a year to the date since the One Way mission in school.

BACU presents:
One Way
7-9th March 2006
Motorbikers :: sports stars :: firefighters ::
gunge a teacher:: multimedia :: life changing message

How incredible is God? What a timely reminder of all that God did in school, started, completed, is continuing. A lot of kids meeting Jesus. Followed up with small group bible studies. Followed up again with the launch of CU small groups.

What’s the next step? That question excites me! It has been a tremendous privilege to watch BACU change, expand, grow… it’s organic. It’s been amazing to watch from a distance, so to speak, and see small groups start. See people going deeper with Jesus. That’s what it’s all about.

One Unbroken Gaze

Your laughter it echoes like a joyous thunder
Your whisper it warms me like a summer breeze
Your anger is fiercer than the sun in its splendour
You’re close and yet full of mystery
Ever since the day that I saw Your face
Try as I may, I cannot look away, I cannot look away…

Captivated by You
I am captivated by You
May my life be one unbroken gaze
Fixed upon the beauty of Your face

Beholding is becoming, so as You fill my gaze
I become more like You and my heart is changed
Beholding is becoming, so as You fill my view
Transform me into the likeness of You

This is what I ask, for all my days
That I may, never look away, never look away…
No other could ever be as beautiful
No other could ever steal my heart away
I just can’t look away…

lent blog

Today I was blogging over at the Lent blog… you can find my post here, titled “Life & Death”. Basically reposted Shaun’s thoughts from a few days ago, with a few wee additional comments.

Send some love to the lent blog.

Circle Pit

Got back from the UCCF retreat earlier today… so much fun. I’m pretty tired now after a few late nights and intense days!! Got to meet a lot of new folks, make connections with leaders in similar roles to mine (especially Josiah – legend!!) and receive some quality teaching from a pastor in Edinburgh.

Heading out to a friends gig in town now – Jen is playing at the Butterfly & Pig shortly which I’m excited about!

I’ll probably post up some notes from the weekend later.

Retreat

I’m away for the weekend… off on the UCCF leaders retreat thing to Lendrick Muir. I’ll be back on Sunday afternoon, so no blogging until then. Looking forward to a weekend hanging out with the guys from our exec, from execs all around Scotland and getting some quality teaching.

Also plan to watch the rugby on Saturday – Come On Ireland!!

Unforced Rhythms

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

Westend Coffee

Here’s the flyer we put together about local coffee shops here in Glasgow’s westend…

Fairtrade Fortnight

We ran a wee stall in the library today to help raise awareness of Fairtrade (this being Fairtrade Fortnight and all). It was pretty fun, just giving out some free samples, letting people taste the goodness and sharing about how easy it is to buy Fairtrade now. Gareth did a great job getting it set up with the SRC, who pretty much provided everything, all we had to do was man it.

It has been cool for me to be researching this some more. We (being the Social Action Team from uni) put together a flyer detailing what our local coffee shops think about Fairtrade. I’ll probably post it up tomorrow.

CU tomorrow should be interesting – Tara from Tearfund is speaking on slavery and people trafficking, it’s modern day equivalent.

For more info on Fairtrade, check out the website.
