In between Latvia and USA, I spent 34 hours in Ireland.
We flew back from Riga, arriving in Dublin at 11.15pm (local time) Tuesday evening, having gone back 2 hours in time zones. I travelled to Belfast where our team stayed the night, and early the next morning (Wed) drove to Portstewart where I got to spend a couple of hours with some family who were over visiting from California. It was literally only about 3 hours, but it was great to see them… I only wish we could have had more time to hang out and catch up on each others lives. (If they’re reading this, keep in touch!)
The drive up to the North Coast that morning was beautiful… one more confirmation of why I love Ireland, and why Portstewart is still my favourite place on the planet! Sun in my face, wind in my hair, Foy’s new album in my ears… I love it!
I then spent an hour with a friend I needed to see, before heading back up to Belfast to hang out with my best friend, and celebrate our birthdays. I was out of the country for both, hers during Latvia, mine during USA, so we celebrated with a coffee and some banter inbetween.
At 11pm Wed evening, I got a bus from Belfast back down to Dublin, where I spent the evening ‘sleeping’ in Dublin airport.
At 5am Thurs morning, I checked into my flight. By 9am I was on my way outta the country again, arriving at 2.20pm (local time) Thursday in Washington D.C.
So there you have it…
3 countries, 4 currencies, 6 time zones… in less than 48 hours.

…which is weird!
Finally taking time out to rest and relax. Spending my days taking pictures, pottering around new places, lying in parks and coffee shops, reading books, drinking coffee…
Finally taking time to read, pray, journal… process things that I need to process.
“To pray is to confess not the abundance but the exhaustion of one’s verbal, intellectual, and spiritual resources. It is surrender…”

I leave bright and early for Latvia in the morning. Not sure what internet access or communication access is like, so if you don’t hear from me, don’t be offended!

Had an mazing few days hanging out with Reuben. Went for long walks in fancy gardens and along deserted beaches, climbed hills in the rain, prayed til we were knackered (had a major holy hangover on Thursday), played with sparklers… on and on the fun goes…
Here’s some photographic documentation…

I leave early tomorrow morning on the first of my trips of the summer. I’m heading up to stay at Reubens place, near Aberdeen, for a few days. Looking forward to having a few days to rest and prepare for Latvia. I will also be in Glasgow on Friday to end my photography exhibition, (re)present. It’s been a fun experiment, and I’ve learnt a lot. Catch ya in a few days… I need to go to bed, need to be up at 5am!

Thought it was time I updated y’all on the summer plans… I’m pretty excited!!
You may remember I’ve been involved with an organisation called Exodus for the past few years. Last summer I went on a leadership development trip with a team to Chicago, and the summer before I did some street worship and the likes with a team in Holland and Scotland (at the Edinburgh Fringe Fesival, what an experience!). Well, this summer I am co-leading a team to Latvia. Our team is based in Glasgow (Exodus is Northern Ireland-based), and runs in partnership with Glasgow Westend Vineyard. We will be working with some local missionaries, running kids camps and taking part in a prayer conference, while seeking opportunities for prayer ministry. We are so excited about this trip! We fully expect that God is going to change our lives again big style – He never fails!
We will be in Latvia from the 1st – 17th July.
Next stop: USA. This is kinda a family holiday… they are going to Washington DC and New York from the 14th – 28th July. For anybody following this, you may notice they leave when I’m still in Latvia! I’m flying out to meet them on the 19th July, spend a few days in DC then head up to NYC with them for a week. They leave on the 28th, I will be in the States until the 8th August. Haven’t quite decided what I’m gonna do then, probably just spend some more time in NYC before going back down to Washington, as I’ll only have 2 days there at the start. I’m thinking about a bit of a canoe trip… anyone know if Washington DC is good for this? Would love to connect with Mark when I’m in DC, get a visit to Ebenezzers for definite.
So thats Latvia 1-17th July, USA 19th July – 9th Aug.
Anyone else want to connect while I’m Stateside?
