Hello Again

I’ve missed you.

I’m sorry I’ve been a lax blogger. Will you still be my friend?

I moved country a few weeks ago. Northern Ireland is slowly infiltrating my mindset again.
I’m thinking about how I translate my experiences in the city (Glasgow) to my current reality in the countryside (with my parents).

I feel like I’ve been in a very dry season creatively.
Moving to Glasgow unstopped something in me.
Moving back, the challenge is to not let that blockage happen again.
I keep coming back to something Blaine (I think?) said: What am I creating that’s just for me?

In that vein, I’ve been redecorating my bedroom.
I’m living in what was my youngest brothers bedroom, and the redecoration process has actually been so good for my soul.
There’s something so beautiful about having a blank canvas.
What do you see?

Here are some other things inspiring me in this season, in no particular order…

Jon Acuff.

A talk on doing what you love by Gary Vaynerchuk.

Story by Robert McKee.

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.

2009 In The Rearviewmirror

One of my year-end routines is to read back through my blog archives for the year. I love how it reminds me of so much that I have forgotten – the little things that have made the year so special (both the hard, painful ones and the joyous ones). Here are a few of the joyous things I’ve enjoyed in 2009…

  • Foys gig in Belfast in Jan- “never let the spirit die”
  • Being involved in CONSP!RE mag
  • Working with Christian Aid’s photography unit, & having some of my images published in their magazine
  • Geek Summit
  • Ireland v Scotland 6 Nations match at Murrayfield
  • Photographing The Rescue
  • Celebrating the gap year – Goodbye Congo
  • Photographing at FUEL09
  • Getting inked
  • Weddings & hen parties
  • A weekend in Oxford with Caroline
  • Seeing Scribble at the Edinburgh Festival
  • Greenbelt 09
  • Roadtrip to Skye with uni friends
  • Inspiring conversations with friends new & old at Story & Cultivate
  • Hanging out with Julie & Daley in LA
  • A night out in Huntington Beach with my cousins
  • San Francisco
  • My parents 25th wedding anniversary
  • My first wedding photography gig

Every year it just keeps getting better. I’m excited for the new things 2010 will bring. How was your 2009?

New Blog!

After several days of sweating over CSS, trying to learn it but mostly just playing until I got it to work, the newly redesigned website & blog are live!

I finally took the plunge to move my blog over onto self-hosted WordPress, and set it alongside my photography portfolio. It can now all be found in one place – here! The archives from my previous blog have all been imported, and will soon be searchable again.

Do take a bit of time to poke around & let me know what you think.
