Come along to Offshore Coffee (Gibson St, Glasgow) for a chance to see some photographs from my recent trip to the DRC with the other Christian Aid gappers…
Christian Aid Week takes place from May 10 – May 16 this year. Find out more on the website here: www.caweek.org. For more than sixty years Christian Aid has been providing relief to those hit by disaster, helping people help themselves out of poverty and speaking out against injustice. We’re about helping people, regardless of religion or nationality, on the ground and in the corridors of power.
We live in a world that needs miracles
When the days of signs and wonders look
As distant to us as Kinshasa skies.
When God speaks, we expect the earth to quake
When God acts, surely everything changes.
In prayer, in scripture, we see
A time when miracles spit fire and blood
And faith burns like a star
When lives change in a moment
A word, a touch, a breath
And that change changes all.Do we live in a world without these miracles
Or are we just too close to see?
Our noses pressed up against a masterpiece
That stretches from horizon to horizon
A miracle of subtle complexity:
A voice amidst the gospel chorus
A needle pulling thread
A choice to love someone in need
Paper envelopes that fall like leaves
And all of these, they have a place,
a time, a reason
Small actions that defy expectation. The earth turns,
Songs are sung and stories told.
And no one notices the glory of God,
As inch by inch
Step by step
The world alters by faith’s miracles.

Photographs from the Rescue in Edinburgh will be appearing on flickr here over the next few days. A few favourites so far…
Keep following the story here – only 2 cities left to be Rescued!
So, these photos are REALLY really late, but nonetheless, here they are. Images from the Geek Summit of awesomeness, when Mr Mead & the Geektastic Gappers hit Edinburgh. Find the rest on flickr here.
A few weeks ago I was in Coventry with work for the Climate Change Day Of Action…
You can still get involved, even if you couldn’t make it along on the day!
1. Take the Copenhagen pledge
2. Say no to coal!
3. Find out more about Countdown to Copenhagen
I got to work alongside the photo unit on the day, trying to document the march and the day as it progressed. There are photos in this flickr set. Here’s a few of my favourites…
I’ve been reading Steven Bush’s blog for a while now, and wanted to highlight it to ya a bit… he writes well, he takes the most immense photographs, he has a massive heart for adoption, and for justice for the poor. He recently went to Haiti with Compassion, and following his story has been enlightening.
A few days ago Bush posted about one of his photographs, which is up for sale. ‘The Only Magic I Still Believe In Is Love’ is limited to 150 prints, is on sale for $25, and all the proceeds are going to the Abba Fund.
“This world is a dark and broken place. It is full of hurt and dying people that are imprisoned by the merciless enemy of poverty. Wars, hate, racism, religion, hunger, poverty, and greed encompass a fallen world full of fallen men. There is a lack of faith, hope, and love. There is a need for restoration and renewal. There is a need for justice and change. Many live as if there is nothing left to hope in. Many live as if there is nothing left good to believe in. I have to believe that there is good left in people. I have to believe that we can make a difference. I have to believe that we can bring change to this broken world. I have to believe in justice. I have to believe that there is hope. I have to believe in love.”
