Lyrics On Friday

I’ve been listening to a lot of phenomenal music of late, but this is the song that has been grabbing my heart for the last couple of days…

If you were hungry would we give you food?
If you were thirsty would we give you drink?
If you were a stranger would we let you in?
What would be a song we’d sing to you when there in need?
Would it be an empty hallelujah to the king?

Turn down the music
Turn down the noise
Turn up your voice oh God and let us hear the sound
Of people broken, willing to love
Give us your heart oh God a new song rise in us

And if you were naked, would we give you clothes?
If you were an orphan would we give our home?
And if you were in prison, would we visit you?
What would be a song we’d sing to you when there in need?
Would it be an empty hallelujah to the king?

Turn down the music
Turn down the noise
Turn up your voice oh God and let us hear the sound
Of people broken, willing to love
Give us your heart oh God a new song rise in us

Let it be our worship
Let it be our true religion
In this world but not of it
Holding on to our confession

Turn down the music
Turn down the noise
Turn up your voice oh God and let us hear the sound
Of people broken, willing to love
Give us your heart oh God a new song rise in
A new song rise in
A new song rise in us

What’s been running through your ears, heart, and head this week?

Lyrics On Friday

Have been listening to a lot of Paper Route over the last few months. This song is my favourite from their most recent album, Absence.

Where have I landed I don’t quite remember
I fell to pieces one night in December
Pictures in boxes remind me of something
I miss the days when our fingers were touching

The memories of losing you, you’re like a ghost
Tracing where I said to you

I wish you would listen,
I wish you would listen,
I wish you would listen,
To get through it

All my decisions were just second guesses
Looking for love like a bride looks for dresses
Every mistake turned to some sort of yearning
A heart that was hollow has filled up with meaning

The memories of losing you, you’re like a ghost
Tracing where I said to you

I wish you would listen,
I wish you would listen,
I wish you would listen,
To get through it

[Wish – Paper Route]

What’s been spinning on your iPod this week?

Marky Mark

Over dinner last night my flatmate & I got talking about films & music… and ended up on the slippery slope known to many as IMDB to Wikipedia to Youtube…

Shooter, a film I recently saw with my parents, stared Mark Wahlberg, who along with his big brother Donny was a member of New Kids on the Block, before leaving to start his own rap group Marky Mark & The Funky Bunch.

They had an interesting social commentary that I think stands strong today as we persevere through this global recession we’re all in together…

Lyrics On Friday

… makes a comeback! Sorry there hasn’t been much activity on here, but there will be more starting to happen again soon. I’m working hard on changing up my website and possibly the blog, as I get ready for a new season. Change is coming, again!

This is one of the most beautiful songs I have heard in a long time.

You only know what i want I you to
I know everything you don’t want me to
your mouth is poison your mouth is wine
you think your dreams are the same as mine

I don’t love you but I always will
I don’t love you but I always will
I don’t love you but I always will
I always will

I wish you’d hold me when I turn my back
well the less I give the more I get back
your hands can heal, your hands can bruise
I don’t have a choice, but I’d still choose you

I don’t love you but I always will
I don’t love you but I always will
I don’t love you but I always will
I don’t love you but I always will

I don’t love you but I always will
I don’t love you but I always will
I don’t love you but I always will

I always will
I always will
I always will
I always will

What have you been listening to recently?

Lyrics On Friday

This track popped up on shuffle earlier this week, and it seemed so totally appropriate! It’s been a while since I’ve listened the whole way through a John Mayer album, but I’ve been listening to him a lot this week again.

Staying home alone on a Friday
Flat on the floor looking back
On old love
Or lack thereof
After all the crushes are faded
And all my wishful thinking was wrong
I’m jaded
I hate it

I’m tired of being alone
So hurry up and get here
So tired of being alone
So hurry up and get here
Get here

Searching all my days just to find you
I’m not sure who I’m looking for
I’ll know it
When I see you
Until then, I’ll hide in my bedroom
Staying up all night just to write
A love song for no one

I’m tired of being alone
So hurry up and get here
So tired of being alone
So hurry up and get here

I could have met you in a sandbox
I could have passed you on the sidewalk
Could I have missed my chance
And watched you walk away?
Oh no way

I could have met you in a sandbox
I could have passed you on the sidewalk
Could I have missed my chance
And watched you walk away?

I’m tired of being alone
So hurry up and get here
I’m so tired of being alone
So hurry up and get here oh yeah

I’m tired of being alone
So hurry up and get here
I’m so tired of being alone
So hurry up and get here

You’ll be so good
You’ll be so good for me

[Love Song For Noone – John Mayer]

Lyrics On Friday On Saturday

Because I am late with them again this week! I’ve been listening to the new Imogen Heap album a ton lately, and particularly the first track…

(I’ve got to get on it) (3x)

Bodies disengaged our mouths are fleshing over.
It´s just an echo game irises retreating
to ovals of white.
The urge to feel your face
And blood rushing to paint my handprint
A Frisbee one by one
Your vinyl on lamanent
Desperate for some kind of contact.

First train home I’ve got to get on it (3x)
To Catch to catch catch catch catch.
First train home I’ve got to get on it (3x)
First Train home

Temporal deadzone where clocks are barely breathing
Yet no one cares to notice for all the yelling
All night clamor to hold it together.
I want to play don’t wait forms in the hideaway
I want to get on with getting on with things
I want to run in fields paint the kitchen
And love someone
And I can’t do any of that here can I?

First train home I’ve got to get on it (3x)
First Train home

So what? You’ve had one too many.
So what? I’m not that much fun to be with
So what? You’ve come silly hatter
So what? I didn’t want to come here anyway.

What matters you doesn’t matter matter to me.
What matters to me doesn’t matter matter to you.
What matters to you doesn’t matter matter to them.
What matters to them doesn’t change anything.

Got to get on it first train home.
Got to get on it first train home

First train home I’ve got to get on it
(I’ve got to get on it)
To catch to catch catch-catch catch.
(First train home)
First train home I’ve got to get on it
First train home.
(First train home)

To go to go to go
Get get get get
Out out out out
Now now now now
