Gapper Love

Spent the last few days in the Peak District for the ‘end of gap year debrief’ with these wonderful people…

Christian Aid gappers 2008/2009

I’ll write more soon – when I’ve had a chance to unpack, emotionally as well as physically – but I wanted to just make mention of it now. I realised over the past few days that I have never felt more comfortable in my own skin as I have done when I’ve been around these guys over the past year. And it’s a beautiful feeling. To all my gapper buddies, thank you.

Lyrics On Friday

I’ve been listening to the new Hillsong United album all week, and I gotta be honest: it’s kicking. I always seem to think I’m not a Hillsong fan, but inevitably when I go to put on some music to worship to, I reach for their stuff. Musically, I reckon this album is a lot better than some of the previous ones – love the drums in Tear Down The Walls particularly. My favourite song so far is Oh You Bring… can’t quite pinpoint why, but lovin’ it.

Oh You bring hope to the hopeless
And light to those in the darkness
And death to life
Now Im alive
Oh You give peace to the restless
And joy to homes that are broken
I see You now
In You Im found

And You opened the door for me
And You laid down
Your life to set me free
All that I am will serve You Lord
And You opened my eyes to see
All the wonder and awe of Christ in me
Jesus Youre everything I need

Oh You fill those who are empty
And rescue those in the valley
And through it all You calm my soul
Oh You find me in my weakness
And heal the wounds of my heartache
I worship You in spirit and truth

And You opened the door for me
And You laid down
Your life to set me free
All that I am will serve You Lord
And You opened my eyes to see
All the wonder and awe of Christ in me
Jesus Youre everything I need

All honour
All glory
All praise to You

[Oh You Bring – Hillsong United]

What have you had stuck on repeat this week?

Self-Portraits

Finally got round to taking some decent self-portraits… I’ve been planning to do it for ages, had the location & the ideas, but just not done it as I hate being on that side of the camera! Kirsty came & helped me out, pressing buttons and suggesting the jump shots (I always subject other people to those so I guess I deserved it!).

There’s a few more over on flickr.

FUEL09

Heading back to Northern Ireland today to photograph at FUEL09. The lineup looks good; I’m actually most excited about the bands nobodys heard of… Robbie Seay Band & Kevin Max in particular. That said, I’m also really looking forward to David Crowder Band, whom I suspect will put on a rocking show.

Excited about working with a few other great photographers to document the festival!
