Phil Wickham :: Singalong

If you don’t already know about this… you should… Phil Wickhams new album is being given away in exchange for your willingness to receive his emails… not bad, eh?! The album, “Singalong“, is a live recording from a night of worship in Portland, Oregon, in May this year. It’s a great album, and the cover art is really interesting as well – faces of people who participated in the album recording somehow, either by being at the church or watching the online broadcast, and then sent in pictures of themselves. Looks really cool.

Basically, I think this album, and Phil’s music generally, are great, and you will be happy to exchange your email address for this album… trust me!

Hillsong :: This Is Our God

It’s not often I can say that I’m really looking forward to the release of the new Hillsong CD… but today is that day. The new live worship recording, This Is Our God, seems to have created quite a buzz about it. I’ve been listening to some of the songs off it on Youtube and various other places, and I really mean it when I say I’m looking forward to it! Hillsong albums have thus far tended to be ‘growers’ for me: I initially am disappointed because they (usually) sound very similar musically, then I start to hear the lyrics more, and then the music… and generally I end up really appreciating them. Actually, a previous Hillsong album, All Of The Above, has been my soundtrack for the past month.

I’ve been listening to this song, Desert Song, constantly over the past few days…

Jambo!

Hello from Nairobi! I made it to Nairobi this afterrnoon, and am now settling into my hotel for the night. Thought I’d take a chance to share a couple of the sights that have amused me most over the past few weeks…

  • Seeing billboards for Guinness in rural Rwanda;
  • Finding a Purpose Driven Life trinket in a African craft store in Kigali, Rwanda
  • Hearing the Kenyan pianist play Boyzone’s ‘No Matter What’ in my hotel in Nairobi, Kenya.

What’s kept you amused over the last few weeks?

Delayed

Slightly delayed, but I am en route back to the UK! Had a lot of hassal with my ticket on Sunday, and so have been spending an extra day and a half in Kigali. Finally got booked on a Kenya Airlines flight to Nairobi this afternoon, leaving at 2pm. I’m at Kigali airport as we speak… checked in at 10:30am to be sure I got on the flight – Kenya Air have been overbooking their flights for the past 4 days, wanted to be sure I got on the flight!

I’ll spend tonight in Nairobi, before flying out tomorrow night, via Dubai, arriving in Glasgow on Thursday midday…. I hope!

Looking forward to getting back… I miss Glasgow!

Remember

“If you must remember, remember this…
The Nazis did not kill 6 million Jews…
nor the Interhamwe kill a million Tutsis,
they killed one and then another, then another…
Genocide is not a single act of murder,
it is millions of acts of murder.”
